    • Market overview i.e. companies and current openings.
    • Are you really ready to make a change?
    • Anything your current company can do to keep you?
    • Expected length of the process.
    • What have you done so far?
    • Should you use more than one recruiter?
    • Are there any factors involved in relocating family members?
    • Availability to interview and when can you start?
    • Discuss how you will be presented to companies confidentially.
    • Discuss compensation.

AFTER TALKING WITH PROSPECTIVE COMPANIES

  • Feedback from me about the conversation.
  • Where do we go from here i.e. interview, wait, or no interest.
  • Discuss counter offer.

AFTER THE INTERVIEW EITHER PHONE OR IN-PERSON

    • Feedback from client.
    • Your input. How do you feel about the interview and do you want to move forward?
    • Decision point.
    • Send thank you letter.
    • Discuss counter offer.

REFERENCE CHECKING AND OTHER DETAILS

    • All followed by a formal offer letter.
    • Decision point.
    • Expect a possible drug test, personality test, and/or credit check.
    • Call the hiring authority directly and accept the job.

RESIGNATION

    • Two weeks’ notice is the acceptable standard.
    • Expect counteroffer

START DATE

    • Mutually agree to start date.

FOLLOW UP

  • Follow up to see if all expectations are met.
